I met Ben in Union Square either the same day as I went there the first day or the next day. He is from Brentwood , CA. His parents are both professionals. One is in the legal field, and the other is in the medical field. I am not saying much about them out of respect about their status in society. When I met Ben he had the hair that was on the top of his head dyed purple with some bleached blonde underneath. He is in his early 30s. His behavior as a young man doesn't show him as a rowdy young man. He has a middle class demeanor and has had a few good jobs from what he told me about his travels in life. He is also some type of Jewish. But he accepts all religions that are around him.
He left home after he came out of the closet for being a homosexual man (also known as gay). His parents didn't want him in their lives that much as long as he was gay. He had met the man of his dreams a few months prior. His boyfriend went to rehab for his drug use. Ben was still using but not so much. He mostly drank alcohol and used cocaine and marijuana as far as I could tell. He just got really wrapped up in using drugs, which is what I see as his reason for being homeless. Then he started using heroine again. He was good friends with this older woman named Alexandria, who come to the park almost daily to visit her son who does crack and heroine. Alexandria's son is in a shelter because of his behavior of stealing and abuse due to his drug use.
Ben's boyfriend broke up with him when he was in rehab. That was around the time that he started doing heroine again. A few weeks ago Ben got really sick and would vomit anything that was in his system. He went to the hospital, and I haven't seen him since. He had told Alexandria that he wanted to leave, and straighten up his act. I hope that is what he did. If I learn anything more about Ben, I will tell you all about it.
After I left yesterday, I went back to my spot by the water and then had to leave a few minutes later to pick up some Feline Pine litter for Cooper. It was kinda funny. I was able to use the shopping cart of my fellow homeless person who is also my neighbor. I put Cooper inside the shopping cart just on his leash. He just road over to where we had to get his litter. I lifted him out of the cart when I met Susan who was to give me the litter. This litter weighs 40 pounds. She couldn't do it because she has a bad back. Then I put Cooper back into the cart and he hugged the litter.
Susan is going to help me by looking for a room for me in the local area and the Bronx. She said that I could use the bathroom in the little community that is in the area because I try not to look like a bum/homeless person and because I act appropriately, so I shouldn't have a problem going in there. It is a beautiful complex. Well, after I finished talking to her. I went to Subway (the fast food chain) with Cooper in the cart. We both learned that if I growl like a cat at Cooper when he wants to climb out of the cart, that he will just sit or lay in the cart and chill. I ordered my veggie patty 9 whole grain footlong sandwich with all veggies that wasn't spicy. then I went into the next store to get water. Cooper was so well behaved.
Then I ate my sandwich around the corner and Cooper checked a few things out in a planter box. Then we went back towards our spot. Cooper met a dog which he pawed at. But he didn't use his claws. Then we went to our spot. I stayed there for a bit, then I decided to walk to the store. I left Cooper in his cage with my fellow homeless neighbor. While walking to the store, I made a very vital phone call.
I called this woman who is in the medical field from what I know. She is willing to help me get Cooper certified as an Emotional Support Animal. We will meet on Saturday to have the paperwork transferred to me. We will stay in touch via text message. At the store I got my fruit and veggies with some hummus and tortilla chips. Plus I got some water. Then I spoke to my brother who still wants me to go to Oregon. I don't want to go, because I know that he is a pedophile.
Then, I went to bed. In the middle of the night, this man drops off some fruit and veggies for me. So, when I woke up and saw these foods. It was beautiful. I found a dead European Starling type bird by the bathroom, that I use. I also spoke to Common Ground this morning. They help people get into shelters and stuff. I have to be careful with Cooper in that area of the park. Now I am back at Dunkin Donuts.
