Still Homeless, Just on the streets. Introduction to Phil

I am so sorry that I haven't posted in so long. Just I had to move to the streets. My cat Cooper wasn't being feed at the Store that he was in. The person who was supposed to help take care of him, didn't even try to give him human food for at least 2 days if not 3. So, I had another friend help care for him. But that just lasted a day when that friend said that my cat Cooper was now his cat. Cooper would get too distressed if I didn't come around any more.

So, with my shoulder in a sling I got my stuff from the shelter after I got Cooper out of that person's place. Then I went and slept on the train for the night after storing my stuff somewhere. The next morning I started thinking while on the train of where to go. I remembered that I have seen many homeless people in Union Square. So, I decided that was where I was going to go. Once I got there, I looked for a place to sit down near other homeless people.

I ended up sitting next to a older man who is 54 years old named Phil. He says like "Fill 'er up" since he is an alcoholic. Now since I now know Phil. I have come to have a dear relationship with him. What I have learned about Phil since I have become homeless is that he was married and it didn't work. At least one time, he choked his wife (he was in a military). Apparently this was after he did a lot of training, even though he was never in a war. He also worked as a train operator for the New York City subway system.

Now, Phil is a rare homeless man. He doesn't beg for money, or (spang) as what the local term for begging is. Phil has a pension. He did live inn a homeless shelter for a time, but he left the shelter when he felt that the government wanted him to try to get all his pension now for housing. So, what Phil does he that he buys Georgi Vodka (Magnum) for a little over $16 dollars and shares with everyone who wants to drink. Since, I don't drink. I am not one of these people. Some people steal his vodka so that they can get free booze. Which is frustrating since if they asked him for some, he would let them take it for free if they are a friend, or for a small fee if he doesn't know them.

Phil is friends with most of the police officers in Union Square park, since even when he is drunk he doesn't cause problems. He will if someone is a problem and he is drunk, give them a problem to correct their behavior. So, Phil is a good guy for the police to know. He will even tell the police who fought with who if the police ask him about what happened (but only if he has heard anything, otherwise he will say that he doesn't know about it).

Now, time doesn't permit me to tell everyone's story about them being homeless in Union Square at this time. I do need to take care of Cooper and shower. But, I am still a Vegan. Just for those who were wondering.
